Built to a traditional Dutch design of Friesian Skutsje at Draghten in 1907, she then traded under sail alone until conversion to the yacht in approx 1970. However most people would refer to her as a Tjalk as this is the more commonly known name for vessels of this type. The original hull was of 5mm iron plate, the deck & coachroof are made of steel which was replaced around 1970.

Broker's Comments

These boat details are subject to contract.
Boatshed Medway are pleased to offer this 51ft Dutch Barge Tjalk for sale, Built in 1907, this sailing barge has stacks of character and would make a great liveaboard boat for a couple or individual. The forward cabin currently has a unfinished area where there is a double berth & washing machine but could be modified to make it into a very nice sized double cabin. The saloon/galley has seating for around six & also has a mixed fuel stove and a compact galley. This is functioning sailing barge & the owner would be very happy to show the new owner how she sails.
