Broker's Comments
Bought by her current owner in 2017 specifically to fulfil an ambition to sail from the Gulf of Thailand around Singapore and on to Phuket, visiting the many beautiful islands and historic ports en route. With ambition fulfilled this extensively upgraded Sun Magic 44 is now on the market, ready to go and complete with Dinghy, Kayak, Fishing Gear, Spare Parts and Tools.
A professional pre purchase survey in 2017 showed her to be sound and all the Surveyors recommendations were attended to.
She underwent a major refit in 2011, in her previous ownership, when amongst other things a new Steering Pedestal with Simrad 12 inch Colour Chart Plotter, AIS, Autopilot with new steering linkage, depth, speed, wind and VHF, Hand held VHF, Fusion stereo system and Target SW receiver were installed. Standing rigging was replaced along with S/S bottle screws
All deck hatches were replaced with Lewmar Offshore hatches and fly screens.
A new three blade bronze propeller, stainless shaft, bearing and dripless seal were fitted
A Stern arch with solar panel manufactured and installed.
A Victron controller for the solar panels and Victron 50 amp intelligent battery charger were fitted
The Keel was dropped inspected and refitted.
New teak and holly floors were fitted in the saloon.
S/S water tanks fitted (Total 381 litres).
Additional 100 litre fuel tank fitted (Total 320 litres)
All through hulls replaced.
Replaced all water piping.
New 12 volt compressor and panel fitted to large capacity fridge.
New oven and S/S surround.
Tropical air conditioners were installed throughout and a stand alone Honda EU 2000 generator provides power for the air conditioning while cruising.
6 x new golf cart batteries were fitted and rewired in Nov 2015.
The current owner has raised the guard rail around the boat due to mobility problems but has retained all original stanchions, so she could be returned to standard condition if required.
In 2017 on the surveyors recommendation some small superficial blisters were ground out and filled with epoxy, the hull then received 5 coats of Epoxy barrier, 1 coat of primer and 3 coat of antifouling. Also during the current owners tenure a 25 kg Rocna anchor and 75 metres of calibrated chain + spare anchor has been added. He has replaced two bilge pumps with an automated system, lightened the saloon with reflective panels, Replaced the port head pump ( starboard head and pump had already been replaced ) and replaced sea water foot pump in the galley,
He has Installed new teak saloon and cockpit tables & LED lights throughout including navigation lights. Replaced the speed log wheel ( He says, "Lesson always fit the blank before lifting the boat" ) The Engine, transmission, outboard and generator have been professionally serviced. The fresh water pump has been replaced. 5 x new fire extinguishers, 8 new fenders and 2 x Manual inflation life jackets and spare co2 canisters purchased.
The windlass has been re built & the control box and gypsy replaced.
A new external gas bottle holder and bubble leak indicator fitted. All cupboard door catches have been replaced.
The cockpit seats and swim platform have been re caulked
decks repainted and cabin sole varnished.
The engine whilst having run around 12,000 Hours in total has only done 600 hours since a major rebuild, it starts first time, sounds good and there is no excessive smoke or vibration.
The asking price is firm and very reasonable considering the above.
