Broker's Comments
There were only about 40 of these Westerly Vulcans built which is a great pity as they are a very spacious and comfortable motor sailer and ocean cruiser. So spacious and with such a wide beam it is hard to believe that they are only 34' long. With four separate accommodation areas, a lovely galley, large saloon with a vast fold-out table and both external and internal helm positions she has the feel of a forty footer.
Carrying over 600 square feet of sail she is said to sail well and with a huge 60HP diesel engine, she can also motor well too. This lovely vessel has had many upgrades recently, spent years cruising the Med and the French canals but is now looking for a new skipper to fall in love with her. She has an extensive inventory, has been regularly maintained and serviced and is now freshly anti-fouled for the season.
To quote from David Brooke-Smith the Westerly expert, "If Scotty had beamed you into the forecabin, so that you could not see the outside first, your best guess at her length would be “over 40ft”.
Everything is on a grand scale. Her forecabin is roomy, the heads are spacious, the galley even has a wall cupboard (in addition to the floor standing fridge), and what’s this; another double cabin to starboard! Yes this is definitely a big boat. Now up the stairs to the saloon, with its steering position and a settee which converts to an enormous double (with room to stow folding bikes beneath it). But there’s more; to port of the saloon is a table with an L-shaped seat, and a chart table, and yet another cabin. Finally, you step into the cockpit, where you find another wheel and a good deep Westerly cockpit locker."
