The countdown is on to the biggest ever Broads Outdoors Festival, which opened on Saturday 5th May 2012 at Whitlingham Country Park with a lively day of music, activities and family fun. The festival showcases the best of outdoor activities available throughout the Broads and offers visitors the chance to do things they might not otherwise do and see things they might not otherwise see.

The Broads is primarily known for boating but over the two weeks that the festival runs there will be the opportunity to try out activities such as Nordic Walking, archery, wall climbing and guided walks as well as six different water sports on the Great Broad.

With over 100 events demonstrating all the Broads has to offer and culminating in the Broads Green Boat and Tourism Show on 20th May at Salhouse Broad there will definitely be something for everyone.

You could step back in time and travel Edwardian style aboard the wherry White Moth and enjoy a day sailing the beautiful rivers of Norfolk or take part in the Ranworth Techno Treasure Hunt and navigate your way around with your GPS unit. Feeling a bit more energetic? Then how about the Huff and Puff trail between Aylsham and Wroxham alongside the narrow gauge Bure Valley Steam Railway (you can “huff” one way on foot or bike along the 9 mile traffic-free trial, then “puff” back by train with your cycles safely stowed on board). For those of you wanting something a little more relaxing , how about enjoying Rollesby Broad by boat or the sun terrace?
