Broker's Comments

Thouroughbred racing boat of its day looking a bit tired in need of a good clean, new headlinings and possibly some new electronics, very solid ocean racer.

Rancher 41, designed by Alan Gurney and built in 1969 by Ansteys of Poole, the first of a class of five all of which continue sailing today, one on Lake Michigan, one in Florida and the remaining three in Europe.

Under her original name Stampede of Arne she was raced, as an Admiral’s Cup contender, in the Channel also taking part in the Fastnet Races in 1969, 71 and 73.

She was subsequently bought by Lord Methuen, who had been a member of the British Olympic Sailing Team at the 1948 Olympics.

She was bought by the current owners in 1987, and has been sailed extensively, to Spain, a circumnavigation of Great Britain, along the Norwegian Coast, several times to the Baltic and frequently to Holland.
