Broker's Comments
Phantom's Wake is a beautiful example of one of the lightening fast and first of its kind Ultra Light displacement boats in the UK. She is easily handled by two people or a small crew as all the lines are brought back and operated from the safety of the cockpit. She is regarded as unsinkable (Double skinned with foam filling and honeycomb bulkheads)! For those that remember the series 'Howard's Way', these boats were heavily advertised as the concept boat that eventually went into a limited production.
The boat reached 21 knots under spinnaker in the Round the Isle of Man Race in 1994 and has held the fastest monohull since that time having broke a record that previously stood for 24 years. She ran this fun race in a Springtime gale by the family crew. She has been cruised by husband and wife around the UK, and Ireland and including a cruise though the Caledonian Canal without having to de-mast or bother about the shallow canal waters due to her press button, hydraulic lifting keel. The lifting keel being an absolute boon for accessing many areas in the Med, the Isles of Scilly and rivers normally not accessible by a boat of this length.
The current owners became the second owners in 1990. She came out of the water in 2014 for a refit and close to £30.000 has been spent on her since but due to business commitments she has yet to go back in the water. The copper bot on the hull can therefore be clearly seen.
She has been meticulously maintained and most of the navigation equipment has yet to be commissioned as it is all brand new as part of the refit. An ideal live aboard she has plenty of space and accommodation with her 3 good size doubles, 2 heads with showers, good size galley with 4 burner oven, plenty of storage, large saloon with heating, TV and music system and is the perfect boat for entertaining friends with her large cockpit area and pop up cockpit table. The scoop has been utilised at times as a BBQ area and also has ladder access in and out of the water. The annual Marina fee has recently been paid for the coming year. The boat really does have to be seen to be appreciated.
